I built My Annuity Store and AnnuityJournal.org because after twenty years inside annuity distribution, I knew most people were buying one of the most important products of their retirement without ever seeing the full menu. My Annuity Store is where people compare and buy, and AnnuityJournal.org is where they read editorially independent reporting with nothing for sale. This site, jasoncaudill.com, is where I write in my own voice about both, and about the industry that connects them.
Who is Jason Caudill, the Annuity King?
I am the Founder of My Annuity Store, Inc., an independent annuity marketplace I started in 2020. Before that I spent two decades working in nearly every seat of annuity distribution. The Annuity King is the name I write under here.
My career started on the carrier side as Vice President of Marketing at Standard Life Insurance Company of Indiana from 2007 to 2009. I then spent eight years as a Regional Vice President at Ash Brokerage, one of the largest brokerage general agencies in the country. From 2017 to 2021 I was a Regional Director at Raymond James, supporting annuity distribution inside one of the largest wealth management firms in the United States.
Over that career I have placed more than $1 billion in annuity premium. I hold an MBA in Entrepreneurship from Ball State University and a B.S. in Business Administration and Computer Information Systems from Ferris State University. That second degree matters more than it sounds, because a lot of what I build now is software.
Why did I start My Annuity Store?
From the carrier and wholesale side, I watched the same pattern repeat for years. A retiree would sit across from one salesperson, see two or three products that person happened to be appointed with, and sign. Nobody showed them what the rest of the market was paying.
The internet had already fixed this for mortgages, auto insurance, and CDs. Annuities still ran on paper, phone calls, and relationships. I founded My Annuity Store in 2020 to change that, with live rates from 90+ top annuity companies, side by side, and no pressure to buy.
Since 2020, My Annuity Store has placed more than $130 million in annuity premium for clients. My wife, Kiara Caudill, is the company’s CEO. In 2025, Insurance Business Review named My Annuity Store the Top Multi-Carrier Annuity Platform.
What is AnnuityJournal.org, and how is it different?
AnnuityJournal.org is an editorial publication about the annuity industry: carrier news, rate trends, product research, and consumer explainers. It is editorial only. It earns no commissions and has nothing for sale.
I keep it separate on purpose. A marketplace has a business reason to want you to buy something, and readers deserve at least one place where that pressure is absent. The two sites share the same belief that retirees deserve plain English and real numbers, but they serve different jobs.
What will I write about on jasoncaudill.com?
This site is where I put my own name on my own opinions. Expect four kinds of writing here:
- Rates and the Fed. What moves in the bond market mean for fixed annuity and MYGA buyers, like my recent piece on whether annuity rates are going down.
- Industry data. Sales trends and what drives them, such as why annuity sales hit a first-half record in 2026.
- Research. Longer papers, including my report on fixed indexed annuity sales leaders from 2015 to 2025 and a white paper on lifetime income and the architecture of a good retirement.
- Building in financial services. Lessons from building software for an old industry, including Andy Annuity, a free AI research assistant that reads carrier brochures and live MYGA rates.
I am not going to tell anyone what to do with their money here. I can’t give individual advice, and nobody can guarantee where rates or markets go next. What I can do is explain how this industry actually works from the inside.
Why does any of this matter to a retiree?
In 2025, 4.18 million Americans reached age 65, the most in a single year on record, according to LIMRA’s Peak 65 research. Only about 24 percent of Boomers reaching retirement age have a traditional pension, so most are building their own paycheck from savings. Annuities are one of the few tools that can turn savings into income that lasts for life.
That makes the buying process important. People should be able to see the whole market, understand the tradeoffs, and read independent reporting before they sign anything. That is the thread running through everything I build.
The mission is simple: help middle-class Americans retire with dignity and grace.
